✅ How the Bootcamp Works
DigitalMarketer’s Head of Marketing Bootcamp is both challenging and rewarding. Each unit is taught by an industry expert and facilitated weekly by a live instructor in a small-group, classroom-style format, with a maximum of 50 students per class.
You and your peers will complete course trainings and “mini-projects,” and engage in group discussions that connect the course material to real-life business situations. In just 4 weeks, those who successfully complete the Bootcamp will emerge with the skills, knowledge, and “in the trenches” experience characteristic of a Head of Marketing.
✅ Course Delivery
The course is delivered as follows:
- Live Training Sessions: On Mondays and Thursdays at 12 pm EST, you’ll attend live training sessions with the instructor. These sessions are recorded and made available immediately for those unable to attend live. During these sessions, discussion threads will be initiated where you’ll apply course information to real-world business scenarios.
- Weekly Coursework: Your instructor will provide weekly assignments, which can be reviewed during office hours on Tuesdays.
- Special Guest Sessions: Throughout the course, special guest instructors will host bonus sessions. Dates and times are subject to change based on guest availability, with a full schedule provided during kickoff week.
- Final Capstone Project: At the end of 4 weeks, all completed coursework will culminate in a final capstone project based on a real-life business scenario. Submission and review of this project are required to receive your certificate.
✅ Course Breakdown: Mastering 4 Core Skills
Over 4 weeks, you will master the four essential skills that every Head of Marketing must possess. Gaining these skills is what differentiates a specialist in a single marketing area from someone who truly understands holistic marketing strategy and can lead a marketing department. Each session blends strategy with execution, and you’ll receive instructor feedback to guide your path to success. Here’s a breakdown of each week:
- Session 0: Kickoff Week
Get ready for the next 4 weeks! This week, you’ll meet your instructor and fellow students. We’ll cover what to expect from the training, how to maximize your learning, including grading, participation, and how to earn your coveted Head of Marketing Bootcamp certificate.
- Session 1: Clarify The Objectives
The top skill for a Head of Marketing is the ability to create alignment – with stakeholders, other departments, the C-suite, and most importantly, with business objectives. This week, you’ll learn exactly how to achieve this alignment and receive a template to document and visualize your “growth engine,” serving as the single source of truth for your marketing efforts.
- Session 2: Define The Strategy
Once business objectives are aligned, how do you achieve them? This week, you’ll learn the precise process to map out the shortest path between your existing assets, campaigns, and channels, and your business goals. You’ll build your growth plan, discover the four key growth levers you must master, and learn a clear process for prioritizing projects that will hit your goals without getting sidetracked.
- Session 3: Run The Numbers
Plans are great, but what if they fail, or worse, were never viable to begin with? You must run the numbers. You’ll learn a step-by-step blueprint to ensure your hypotheses align with past results, realistic expectations, or valid assumptions, and that they are designed to achieve the stated business goal.
- Session 4: Execute The Plan
This is where theory meets practice. To be an effective Head of Marketing, you must know how to execute. This week, you’ll identify key project players and learn how to effectively communicate project scope and business objectives to reach your goals. Plus, you’ll get a checklist to help you manage creative and technical buildouts effectively, ensuring projects launch on time and within budget.
- Session 5: Build Your Scorecards & Dashboard
A common question is, “How do I track and improve the ROI of our marketing efforts?” This week, you’ll solve that. It begins with a repeatable process to identify key performance indicators (KPIs), both leading and lagging, crucial for campaign success. You’ll then learn how to transform these metrics into scorecards and dashboards to display campaign effectiveness and gain real-time insights into results.
- Session 6: Communicate With Key Stakeholders
Once results are known, what’s next? Effective marketing leaders need to master meeting rhythms and communication cadences with stakeholders and key organizational members. You’ll learn how to communicate effectively with those who report to you, other departments impacted by your efforts, and the leadership team driving the entire organization towards its goals. This session covers the nuances of each communication type.
- Session 7: Optimize For Growth
It’s the Head of Marketing’s responsibility to be the first to identify (and address) failing key metrics and faulty assumptions. After learning to diagnose and solve problems, the next level of optimization is automating and scaling “the winners.” This week, you’ll learn how to effectively manage and re-allocate time and money budgets from low-performing areas to high-performing ones.
- Session 8: Celebration Week
Congratulations! You’re now equipped to step into any marketing role, in any industry, and immediately drive results. This week, you’ll finalize your capstone project for review and receive your certificate of completion. Then, it’s time to celebrate the hard work and dedication you’ve put in over the past 4 weeks!
